World War 2 Day

The children are currently enjoying their World War 2 themed day. They all looked wonderful in their costumes this morning when they have had a quiz, drill practice and looked at where the war took place. They have also looked at guns, gas masks and other artefacts.
This afternoon, we are anticipating an air raid! But hopefully there will be plenty of fun and games, 1940s-style, in the “shelter”.

I’ve had a decent response to the Twitter feed but still far from everyone is following! It only takes a few moments to set up and you don’t have to join in the interactivity if you’d rather just find out what we’re up to! Your account will need to be approved before you can see the feed. The fastest way to do this now is to send an email with your child’s name and class to rbarnes@york-road.kent.sch.uk along with your Twitter user name once you have one (join at www.twitter.com), before following the feed at www.twitter.com/yorkroadschool. N.B. you need to request to follow the feed; I cannot grant permission without you asking. To help you get started, take a look at this Newbie’s Guide to Twitter.

Finally, here is the Kit List in case you didn’t get one or have lost your copy. Please remember, NO electrical items (be they hair dryers, straighteners, Nintendo DSs, Sony PSPs, mobile phones, iPods or whatever) are permitted! Digital cameras ARE allowed but we will not take any responsibility for them if they are lost or damaged. If you are bringing a digital camera, it would be great if you could also bring the USB lead so I can put photos from the camera onto the website during the week!
