Here is an outline of the dates and information for the parents and carers of our Year 6 pupils who are moving onto secondary school in September 2010:

• Tuesday 15th September 2009 – 11+ tests (verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning).
• Wednesday 16th September 2009 – 11+ tests (mathematics and writing).
• Monday 19th October 2009 – 11+ results sent to parents, to arrive on Wednesday 21st October.
• Monday 2nd November – Secondary Common Application Form must be returned to school by this date.
• Monday 1st March 2010 – offer of one school place sent to parents by their home local authority.
• Friday 5th March 2010 – secondary schools to send out welcome letters to parents.
• Monday 15th March 2010 – final date for parents to confirm whether or not they accept the offer, make any appeals and / or requests to be placed on a school’s waiting list.

We would strongly reccommend  that parents apply for their child’s secondary school place online at www.kent.gov.uk/ola

One of the main benefits of doing this instead of applying in writing is that parents will receive an email notification of their offer on Monday 1st March 2010 (shortly after 4PM), as well as a formal letter. Those applying in writing must wait for their formal letter to arrive.

Parents who apply online must not submit a paper form as well, but we do request that a copy of your online form is printed off and handed into the school office, so that we are aware of the schools applied to.
